Frequently Asked Questions Q: How do I participate in the "Cheung Chau Wild Walk" — Exploration Trail Award? A: Participating is simple and convenient. Upon entering Saiyuen, collect the route map and complete the trail on your own. You must take personal photos at "Cheung Po Tsai Cave" and the "Reclining Rock," or record your journey using any GPS tracking app. After completion, present one of these proofs at the Saiyuen Front Desk to claim your medal.
Q: Will there be any staff accompanying me during the activity? A: No. This is a self-guided activity completed by participants independently. No instructors or staff will be stationed along the route. Participants must assume all risks and are recommended to bring sufficient drinking water, suitable hiking shoes, and a communication device. Q: Can I complete the trek first and then enter Saiyuen to claim the medal? A: Yes. However, this program is only available to paid overnight or day campers. All checkpoint visits and medal redemptions must be completed during the validity period of your stay or day camp ticket, and within the office hours of the Saiyuen Front Desk. Q: Can I bring my pet to participate in the program? A: This depends on your arrangements. While there are no restrictions on the outdoor public trails, pets are prohibited within Saiyuen (except for guide dogs). Since the medal redemption must be processed inside Saiyuen, we recommend making prior arrangements for your pet to avoid being unable to enter and claim your medal. Q: Can guests aged 3 or under, or 60 or above, who enjoy free admission, receive a medal? A: Yes. Although the program is intended for paid campers, any guest who enjoys free admission can still claim a medal by completing the trek, presenting proof, and paying the standard Day Camp admission fee. Q: I completed the same route in the past; can I claim a medal now? A: No. Participants must take part within the program’s valid dates (April 10 to May 9, 2026). You must present personal photos taken at the designated checkpoints (Cheung Po Tsai Cave and Reclining Rock) or a valid GPS tracking record on the day of completion at the Saiyuen Front Desk. Q: If I participate within the valid dates, is it possible that I won't receive a medal due to limited stock? A: Currently, there is sufficient stock. (In the event that medals are temporarily out of stock, we can arrange for them to be sent via courier at a later date, though the courier fee will be the responsibility of the participant.) Q: Can I complete the trek at night? A: No. For the safety of all participants, we recommend trekking during daylight hours with sufficient sunlight. Some sections of the route are rugged, and poor visibility at night increases the risk of getting lost or injured. Furthermore, medals must be redeemed on the day of completion during Saiyuen Front Desk office hours (9:30 am – 6:00 pm). Records cannot be verified outside of these hours.
